The Georgia Board for Physician Workforce is currently accepting applications for its physician, dentist, physician assistant and advanced practice registered nurse service-cancelable loan repayment programs for 2018. More information, including program eligibility requirements, can be found in both the attached press release and flyer. Applications are available until the end of October on the GBPW’s website by clicking here

The GBPW works to see Georgia communities, especially in medically underserved areas, have improved access to needed physician generalists and specialists, thereby enhancing the health and well-being of Georgia’s citizens. In FY 2017, the GBPW awarded 20 APRN and PA loan repayments, eight dental loan repayments and 43 physician loan repayments, which, in total, provided over 43 different rural counties with much-needed access to health care. Since the physician program’s inception over 20 years ago, the retention rate for recipients who continue to practice in rural areas after completion in this program hovers around 67 percent, so the GBPW believes these programs play a vital role in attracting and retaining practitioners to rural Georgia.

Any assistance you can provide in spreading the word about this valuable state resource to other APRNs in Georgia would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.
